Bishop’s Lenten Appeal

February 3, 2021

The Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) supports our Diocese in its mission of sharing the love and mercy of Christ through serving the needy, educating and forming youth, encouraging vocations, promoting a culture of life and assisting the clergy, religious, and lay people who help build and strengthen our diocesan Church.

A Message from Bishop Burbidge

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Our faith and trust in Jesus have sustained us as we experienced the pandemic in our lives.  During this unprecedented time, I have been uplifted by the steady support of the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) which funds more than 40 ministries and outreach programs in our diocese.

The theme for the 2021 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal is Encourage One Another by Word   and Deed.  Participating in the BLA is an opportunity for us to imitate Christ and to bear witness to his transforming love.  By sharing our gifts, we help those whose needs are the greatest: the poor and the vulnerable.  Our gifts also demonstrate our commitment to promoting the sanctity of life, the teaching of our Catholic faith, our service to the youth and vocations for the Priesthood.

I respectfully ask that, if your circumstances allow, you please give prayerful consideration to a sacrificial pledge to the BLA this year.

May Our Lord Jesus bless you as together, in his name, we encourage one another by word and deed.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge

Methods of Giving

The Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) is the primary means of support for the many diocesan-wide ministries, programs, services and good works of our faith community.

Your contribution to the BLA is vital to the life mission of the Diocese in spreading Christ’s gospel message of love and mercy to thousands.

Through your contribution, the Diocese is able to serve the needy and poor, educate and form our youth, encourage vocations, nurture a culture of life and assist clergy, religious, and lay people in building and strengthening our diocesan Church.

I ask you to reflect prayerfully on how you have personally experienced God’s mercy in your life, and join in supporting the BLA this year. God Our Heavenly Father promises infinite peace and joy to those who serve others in the name of the Lord.

When you make a pledge, keep in mind the following:

  • Gifts are tax deductible as allowed by Law
