One-Hundred Children Receive First Holy Communion at St. Agnes this May
St. Agnes CCD and school students encountered Jesus Christ in the Eucharist for the first time over the last couple of weeks. Father Frederick Edlefsen, our Pastor, celebrated the Masses on Saturday, May 4, and Saturday, May 11, at which 52 St. Agnes CCD students and 48 St. Agnes School second graders, respectively, received their First Holy Communion. Family and friends gathered to celebrate on this divine occasion with the children, as they took the next step in becoming fully initiated into the Christian life through the reception of Christ’s Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity – the food of eternal life.
Thank you to our second grade catechists, Mrs. Deborah Wooldridge and Mrs. Martha Gaudet, and second grade teachers, Ms. Mary Kay Soos and Ms. Mary Ann Kenealy, for all their work in preparing the students to receive this Sacrament. Thank you to Bernadette Michael, Director of Religious Education, and Marie Macnamara, Administrative Assistant for Religious Education, for their efforts in organizing these special celebrations.
