Dan McClure Biography
Originally from the Midwest, Dan has lived in the NOVA area for the past four years. Dan received an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from The Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS) at Divine Mercy University, a professional graduate school in the Arlington area with the mission of integrating faith and psychology. Dan is currently completing his full-time psychological residency with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington and expects to graduate with his Doctorate of Clinical Psychology in May 2018.
Before beginning his graduate studies, Dan earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Among his prior work experiences, Dan mentored high school youth for four years and completed a summer internship working with veterans as a Chaplain Intern in a V.A. hospital. Daniel’s academic research includes Attachment Theory and the psychological benefits of contemplating beauty. His clinical interventions are drawn from Emotion Focused Therapy for both couples and individuals, Interpersonal Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, all integrated within a Catholic understanding of the human person. He has experience working with a variety of populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and couples.
Dan is excited about the opportunity to serve the parishioners of St. Agnes. He considers it a joy and privilege to accompany others on their journey towards flourishing, growing in their freedom to fully embrace all that is true, good, and beautiful.
