Dear Parishioners,
“Jesus Christ is risen! Alleluia!” This Easter proclamation truly resonates as we continue our Holy Year Jubilee celebration. Pope Francis said that we are pilgrims of hope. Indeed, we have a hope that cannot be vanquished. The tomb is empty. Jesus—the Son of God, Lord, and Savior—has conquered sin, death, and evil itself. Darkness has given way to the light of a new day. He has established a new Kingdom, a kingdom of love and truth, justice and peace. This Kingdom is made visible in the Church, which is founded upon the apostles, which continues to proclaim His Gospel, and which continues to share His life and love through the sacraments.
Although at times the turmoil and confusion that surrounds us—like it did the apostles on Good Friday—seems overwhelming, Christ has risen, Christ has conquered, and Christ is with us until the end of the age, if we remain faithful and place our hope in Him. The love of God shown to us through our Savior Christ cannot be conquered. Therefore, be a witness to the resurrection by how you live your life.
Please know Fr. Haissig, Fr. Oetjen, Fr. Kist and I are praying for you. We ask for your prayers. Please pray also for those individuals who have received the beautiful Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
So let us once again joyfully proclaim today and every day, “Jesus Christ is risen! Let us rejoice and be glad! For this is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad!”
May God bless you,
Msgr. William P. Saunders, Pastor
